“American History X” Movie Review In Venice Beach, “gangs are like a plague” says 16 year old Danny Vineyard who is currently in the process of being brainwashed into a neo-nazi. In “American History X” the main point begins when the principle tells Danny to write an essay on his older brother Derek, a skinhead who is in jail for killing two men, and former leader of a supremacist gang. His is supposed to write about how his brother’s actions and lifestyle now affects himself. In the movie he is narrating the racial discrimination that is being influenced upon him, and the gruesome crimes being commited. He is only 16 and is still trying to figure himself out and what his own opinion is on the whole situation. His story opens the eyes of the audience to the world of racism, discrimination, and a measure of brainwashing that can still be occuring today. In this movie racism is a major point that is being made, in the begininng of the movie Danny is recalling a time they were in the park playing basketball and Derek challenged the black people they were playing with to a game. Blacks vesres whites and whoever lost wasn’t allowed to come back. It was a competition of the races,a dn in the end Derek team won,and it was such asense of triumph in the air. It was a sense of supiriority to Derek. I don’t think that they should have separated the races like that and made the terms so drastic, because that is what creates enimies. Although Derek’s sense of racism is extreme,…
face (like Derek Jeter) they might want to engage in a purchase of the car. Furthermore, the audience would want to buy the car for higher class. The car is going to increase the consumer’s/owner’s status of their life-living situations. Therefore, young sporty drivers are the targeted audience.
The persuasive technique that the advertisers are using is testimonial. For example, the advertisers use testimonial because they used a famous athlete. The sponsor that they used was Derek Jeter. When…
chemistry he had placed sheets over his windows and locked his door and wedged his dresser under the doorknob so no in could get in. He stated that Taliban soldiers were lurking around the dormitory and following him thinking they were going to kill him. Derek has had difficulty functioning for the past 6 months and his symptoms have worsened over the last week. He is anxious and is having trouble with his thoughts and he is also isolating himself from others as he believes that he is being followed.

“Why wear that here?”
When you think of the norms related to the types of clothes each gender wears when they go to the mall, you think that a girl may wear short shorts with a shirt or jeans with a shirt. When it comes to guys, the norm is some wear jeans and a tank top or shorts and a tank top while others wear cargo shorts with a shirt and a hat; the list is endless. However, you do not normally see people…
My brother Jonathan ignites my spark. At the age of three, he was diagnosed with autism. I grew up watching him struggle with everyday activities. Making friends was a daunting task with rarely any positive outcome. He would have difficulty expressing himself. At home he would be always talking, smiling, making me laugh. In public, he was dead silent; unable to show the world who he really was.
I do not consider his diagnosis a curse. Instead, I consider it a blessing. My brother has inspired…
American History X is focused on Derek Vinyard: the world that he lives in, how he manages to escape it and attempting to guide his younger brother, Danny, from going down the same broken path. Derek is part of a neo-Nazi gang, led by Cameron and himself, who recruited young white frustrated teens to join him and his beliefs. Fueled by white supremacy, the gang felt superior against every other race besides the ‘white’ man. Derek was the leader and they followed his every order for they all were…
On December 17, 1903 brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright flew the worlds first powered, heavier than air aircraft. Meaning that they were the first to fly an aircraft that was manned and could be controlled while in the air unlike a balloon or blimp which, which are operated by gases rather than lift and cannot be controlled while in flight. The first flight lasted 12 seconds and travelled a distance of 120 feet, which may sound very short but was actually an amazing accomplishment for this time.…
