Based on the data provided on the above chart, the total enrollment of students are predominantly equal to the racial composition of minority. Also the classes not taught by teacher w/standard or advanced credentials were almost equal with the exception of Gilmor Elementary. Roland Park Elementary has 137% Asian and 60% Hispanic/Latino that attends the school, which includes a lower percentage of farms students, special education and over 55% grade students who met or exceeded standards in reading compared to the other schools.These schools seem to be segregated by race with African American being the majority’s in all schools. It’s hard for kids to focus when you’re around so much negativity. I do see a lack of racial diversity in the schools, enroll in all the schools is majority African American, with the exception of one which includes a percentage of Asian and Hispanic/Latino. Therefore, there is no mention of any other race attending these schools. Not to mention, with Asian and Hispanic/Latino when they come to the U.S. they most likely migrate to a certain location and populate their own little community.I believe school reinforce and perpetuate inequality in society. In the educational system, it shows that white, middle and higher-income students do better than minority of low-income students because, higher income student have better resources like professional tutors, access to private schools or better public school districts, their parents are more involved in their schooling, their priority on education is higher and they have more opportunities to travel. Lower-income students don’t have these same opportunities.
