In the Racial Inventory Assignment, I have scored 48 out of 115. The reason of the low score I got might be caused by three factor, the population, income and social influence of Asian Americans.
In 2014, the total population of Asians reached 20.3 million, accounting for 6.3% of the total population of the United States. It is the fastest growing population in the United States.Among them, California has the largest Asian population, with 6.3 million people, accounting for about 31%, followed by 1.8 million people in New York state, and Texas with 1.39 million Asian population ranking third in the United States. Hawaii has the highest proportion of Asian population, more than 790,000, accounting for 56.1% of the total population in the state.Among the Asian population, the highest proportion of ethnic Chinese from mainland China is about 22%, with a total population of 4.5 million, followed by India and the Philippines, with a population of 3.8 million, followed by 2 million in Vietnam, 1.8 million from South Korea.and 1.4 million people in Japan. Although the number of Asian immigrants increase so fast, the Asian group is still minority in the USA.

The average income of families is different among different group of populations in the United State. The income of Asians is not only significantly higher than other ethnic groups, but also higher than the white group. As for the education level, the education of Asian immigrants are much higher compared with the same age group in their country of origin. For example, about 27% of Korean and 25% of Japanese have at least a bachelor’s degree. However, nearly 70% of the new immigrants of same age have at least a bachelor’s degree.
