Racial profiling has been a major problem since the 1700’s , I will not only be expressing my opinion toward racial profiling I will be writing about many racial issues mainly including stereotypes that sadly continue to this day. In this essay I am going to focus on how racial profiling affects the African American community. Racial profiling is about using stereotypes and assuming the worst of people based upon biased views. Like claiming that all African American speak broken english or that all African Americans are some sort of criminals or are participating in a gang. Those are ways racial profiling are used today.

There are many good people in the world all off different backgrounds and cultures but some people get harassed

Racial profiling can result in racially motivated violence for example an African American immigrant was killed in the hail of 41 bullets by the New York police department for attempting to get his wallet out of his pocket when it was asked for by an officer. When this issue was brought to someone in a higher position the officers claimed it was for self defense this is one of the many cases that seem to follow a pattern. Another example of the stereotyping negatively affecting people is when 17 year old Trayvon Martin shot in 2012 by George Zimmerman. Zimmermans reasoning for shooting Martin was that it was self-defense even though Martin was unarmed. The reason these things happen are because of the negative stereotypes that are believed to be across the whole African American community. The bill would be used to prohibit the use of racial profiling in law enforcement investigations. Racial profiling is rooted deeply throughout this country's history and affects only certain groups of people. so having this bill pass would help lower the amount of deaths and police brutality due to racial profiling. For example”Support from people impacted by the problem—particularly communities of color—is substantial. The End Racial Profiling Act should be passed without delay”(Hafiz 1). That elaborates on how the End Racial Profiling Act should be passed and how the people who are affected by racial profiling should not have to struggle to get the bill passed when they are most impacted by the results of
