In the essay “Jim Crow Policing” written by Bob Herbert demonstrates racial profiling, where policemen often discriminate against many innocent people. Statistics prove that the police were stopping more than 450,000 people in 2009 and the numbers kept on going. Whites were stopped less than any black or hispanic, although, they were proven to contain the most weapons and drugs. “Even the official reasons given by the police for the stops are laughably bogus” Herbert explains. These encounters by the police were degrading, pointless, and it was time to put an end to this racism (Jim Crow Policing) in New York City.
