Racism, is the belief in the superiority of one race over another, which often results in discrimination and prejudice towards people based on their race or ethnicity. I hear this word often and it’s very sad that we as human being can’t accept the fact that we are all the same and should judge each other based on race. We’re so bias when it comes to a certain race. Stereotypes are a great example of implicit bias, we see African American and Latino Americans on the news every night committing a crime and after seeing it so much you began to believe these people are awful. People can switch up the story however they want to sway others in deciding the way they want us to think on a certain topic. Social media is getting really annoying to me as well. Whenever I’m on Facebook all I see on there is a cop killing an unarmed black man or a black man doing something reckless or a white person calling a black person a “nigger”. All that is doing is making us more prejudice towards one another. I believe social media has a huge impact on racism in America in a negative and positive way. People can watch a video on Facebook and have their mindset changed on specific a race just because what the video showed them and then automatically believe it. Smart people in this world who were raised right know better than this. All I’m trying to get at is that we can’t always believe what we see on the media. We have to use our minds because we began to judge others and think about the circumstance these people have to go through every day of being judge because of the color of their skin. Racism will never leave this country but we can control it simply by the way we raise the next generation of this
