In “The Most Dangerous Game,” Rainsford proves himself to be a dynamic character. While on a trip to Rio to hunt Jaguars, Rainsford and his hunting companion, Whitney, come to talk about jaguars. Whitney speculates that jaguars must be able to feel fear and pain, to which Rainsford argues, “‘You’re a big-game hunter, not a philosopher. Who cares how a jaguar feels?;’” (Connell 60).
