The technologies of governmentality reach deeper than the institutional level (Rose, O’Malley and Valverde 2006). Everyday technologies that have individuals questioning and remodeling their lives to conform to societal expectations are employed. Experts in every field imaginable, overtly and covertly, deliver messages impressing on the individual such ideations as; to be better, thinner, healthier, community focused, nationalistic, hard working, aspirational and consumerist. One needs only think about the role the media plays in shaping our thoughts and opinions. The website provides information on a spectrum of issues and attempts to address inequities in access by providing information in video format, plain English documents, and documents in other languages. It has also previously produced video documentaries which were distributed to every Australian new borns’ family, which featured successful identities such as Deborra-Lee Furness, Dave Hughes, Russell Crowe, Neil Perry, Hazem El Masri and Jana Pittman providing tips and information on parenting (Svensson 2009; Raising Children: A Guide to Parenting from Birth to Five 2007).
