Leadership is the action of leading people or a group. The word Leadership can bring many images to a one’s mind. An example of a leader is an explorer, cutting a path through the jungle for the rest of his group to follow. A softball player willing to show an example of a drill so the rest of her team knows what to do and follows what she does. A person can be a leader in many different ways, and a person can be a leader in almost everything he/she does, but only if they are willing to be the leader.
In the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding shows the meaning of leadership. Ralph represents leadership; he is attractive, a compelling charm boy that inspires people. Ralph is the one who instructs the meetings, the fire, and the huts. Ralph is a good planner, he thinks ahead to help himself and the boys get off the island alive. Ralph also gives the other boys jobs to assure their survival until they are rescued. So in this case Ralph is a good leader, but is he the best leader?

Piggy has every single one of those characteristics that is why he would have been a good leader. Ralph had most of the characteristics but he didn’t have every single one of those characteristics to make him the best leader for the group; for example: Ever since the boys picked Ralph as the leader they didn’t listen to him which means they didn’t have respect for him.
