William Golding’s novel Lord of the Flies takes place on a tropical island that leaves a group young boys stranded with no hope and no adults to help them problem solve on how to get rescued. When the boys go back to look for the plane wreckage all they find is a giant mud streak down the side of the mountain because the plane slid with the rain into the ocean. When the plane slid into the ocean it resembled that they have no home anymore and no sign of family or friends. When Ralph blows on they signal shell, “conch” all of the boys heard it and ran to the noise because they all thought that it was a rescue signal.
Ralph fills up all of the qualities and traits of John Locke. The first thing that Ralph did when he gained power he was “eager to offer something” (46). Ralph acquires the same traits as Locke because in this situation Hobbes would

At the beginning of the book it explains how Ralph was voted chief and when he became chief he suddenly just gave half of his power to Jack. “The Choir belongs to you, of course ‘ (23). In this quote he gives the authority to jack and tells him that him and his Choir are the new leaders of the head hunters. If Jack had all the power he would share it with nobody because he is more Hobbes and believes that there should be one king or ruler in charge of everything.
In the novel Lord of the Flies, Ralph moves to the characteristics of hobbes because everyone on the island is ganging up on him and he is realizing that he has to step up and take charge. “Give me piggy's specs he can’t see without them” (176). In this quote it explains how he takes charge and stands up for his last member of his tribe. When they go to the other side of the island to receive piggy’s glasses back from jack and when they get there the fight breaks out between them and is a war between the tribes. “His temper broke. He screamed at Jack then charged” (179). This is when it all broke
