Famous author Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, "Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow." This quote is very true, and for a variety of reasons. If people just stick to what they know, they'll never get the chance to learn new things. Their skills in life will stagnate, and they will not feel very accomplished about their life. Also, if people never try new things, their skills in life will stagnate. They may be very useful in a few select areas, but their usefulness will be extremely narrow and limited. The world right now is a place that is constantly changing day by day. It is very important for people to be knowledgeable in a wide variety of subjects to be useful in this current society. It will help people in so many parts of their life if they are constantly trying to learn new things. If they just stick to what they know, they're going to have a lot of trouble in a world that requires you to know many different things. Having a wide set of skills can be useful for just helping out a friend or family member, to getting a well paying job, all the way to even being very successful and rich because you found multiple things that you can master and be efficient in. Some people might say they are happy to stick to what they know because it is safe and easy, however if these people never try to do things beyond what they know, they'll not feel very accomplished about what they have done in their lifetime.
