Ramona Garibay was born in 1970 and was a teenager during the early and late 1980’s. Ramona’s family included her mom and three of five brothers. A typical day for Ramona involved going to school, coming home to do homework, going outside to play, come in to eat dinner, take a shower, watch TV, and then go to sleep. Ramona attended. She really enjoyed going to middle school. She remembers this one teacher who had a very short temper and would get mad really easily, otherwise, the rest of her teachers were nice. On the other hand, her mother worked as a property manager for a few years. Ramona’s mother took primary care of all her sibling including her. Sometimes they ate at the kitchen table and sometimes they ate in the living room watching Tv, but they rarely ate as a family. When they did eat as a family they talked about what they did in school. Every time they had a homemade meal it was always her mother that did the cooking.
All she said was the main problem from around the 1970’s and it was pollution. Otherwise, she thinks that there are more problems now than back then.
During Ramona’s time growing up, there were multiple presidents. She did not like President Richard Nixon because he was racist and he sabotaged peace in Vietnam, so he was not a good President.
Ramona feared only crime and gangs.
Ramona liked to listen to freestyle music and her favorite musical artist was Stevie B. The way she listened to music was on her cassette player. Her favorite television show was “Threes Company” because it was a very funny television show. She remembers seeing “The Karate Kid” and “The Outsiders”. She liked both of those movies because Ralph Macchio was in both of them and he was her favorite movie
