One word that defines a whole nation, one word that drives every American. Ambition. For hundreds of years, individuals have been arriving in the United States in search of fulfillment because of their ambition. Ambition gives us purpose. It gives us direction in life. Not only does it drives us to be better people, but ambition embodies who we are as Americans. But, too much ambition can be perceived negatively by others. Always striving for better accomplishments, and how the bigger we dream the bigger our success is, is how as Americans, we portray the true definition of ambition. Particularly, Americans don't realize that it's part of our nature to keep aiming for a more enjoyable future. Throughout history we can see that the "American Dream" has been the same, working hard for a better future. All can be solely blamed on ambition. In "The Last Lecture"by Randy Pausch, a fitting example is stated, "And right then, I had the feeling that I had more in me, that if I gave it my all, I might be able to offer people something special" (15). As foreign policy can be read as helping for Americans, it can also be seen as overstepping in other nations. For example, according to PewResearchCenter the United States is disliked by 84% of the Jordanian population. Mostly due to the United States invasion of Iraq in 2003, which as claimed by the President of Jordan would cause turmoil in the area. As the United States' ambitious nature to help out other nations was predicted as good, to other countries, like Jordan, the idea was quite negligent to the issues that were present in the region.
