The world is full of different types of music from classical to country, rock to rap, and so many more genres. The ancient Greeks had it right by not allowing certain music rhythms due to the influence it has on people. Rap music would have been banned due to the influence it has on people. It has a very negative influence on all listeners, especially the younger generation because of the profane, violent, and sexist lyrics. So why does Rap music intrigue younger people? This is because a lot of the songs are rags- to- riches type lyrics. Many teens, especially the ones that come from poverty, find a sense of empowerment in the lyrics. Rap lyrics effect children, teens, and young adults very negatively for two reasons. First, it uses a lot of slang and bad grammar. This impacts a child’s cognitive development since the brain does not fully develop until the mid-twenties. Whether it is selling them, making them, doing them, or even fighting for them. “I’m in love with the coco”, “Cut it”, and “Trap Queen” are some of the most recent songs about drugs. The first song is about how the rapper loves to do cocaine and that he got a good deal on it. Most listeners look up to these rap artists and they believe that if the rapper is doing drugs it is safe for them to do. They listener does not think about the potential dangers from using drugs. The second song is talking about dealing drugs and how it overcame their life. They would rather sell drugs to make money instead of getting a real job and having a family. What the listeners do not realize is that they will get in trouble for dealing and end up in prison for it. The last song is about how the perfect life is when they make drugs at home with their “trap queen” so they can make money
