Sexual assault is a horrific crime. It can be either physical or verbal. Also, sexual harassment can be a form of sexual abuse. I believe that sexual assault should be a crime that is severely punished. The invisible war film explores the epidemic of sexual assault and rape in the U.S. Military, and it uses personal stories, Government’s figures and statistics from the department of defense reports over the years to illustrate the horrific and devastating life that women and some men go through in the military. Their stories are saddening and infuriating.
While watching the film, you could feel sadness in the face of the rape victims when they were giving and testifying about their horrible experiences that them and other women and young girls goes through while serving in the U.S. military. Their stories would make you feel demoralized especially to our young generation who are looking forward to serve in the U.S. military. It is disappointing and disrespectful for men in the military to rape fellow colleagues and threaten them not to say anything unless they will face it roughly.
According to the statistics that was shown in the film, about 20% of the women have been sexually assaulted while serving in the U.S. military and only 8% of the assailants are prosecuted.
