In 1857 the grimms published this version of Rapunzel. It was a tale about a poor husband and wife who were dying to have a baby of their own. Then finally they got pregnant and the wife endlessly craved the rapunzel plant. She begged her husband to fetch it for her from the witch, mother gothel’s, garden. When he was caught trying to steal from the witch he bargained the rapunzel in return for their unborn child. Once the baby was born Mother Gothel took the daughter to a secluded tower to keep her prisoner. She grew to be very alluring with long blonde hair and sang beautifully. One day a prince heard her singing and asked her to go away with him to be wed. They fell in love and when Mother Gothel discovered this, she cut rapunzel’s hair …show more content…
He wanders aimlessly through the forest when finally happening upon rapunzel and thier twins she gave birth to. She cries tears of joy and when they landed on his face their power allowed him to see again and they live happily ever after. This tale was written more than 100 years ago and yet it's still a popular story. A rendition of this classic was put on by Disney with a few adaptations. Tangled, A title in reference to her long tresses, came out in 2010. Tangled is about a princess who has long sun kissed hair with magical properties. She is stolen by Mother Gothel to live in a tower. Then the thief, not prince in this case, simply happens upon the tower to hide after stealing the crown. After knocking him unconscious with the frying pan, a recurring weapon in this variation, she proceeds to blackmail him into taking her to see the lanterns that the king and queen release every year on her birthday. The unlikely pair venture out and run into a few problems, ruffians and thugs, almost drowning, and outside forces trying to keep them apart as they fall in love. Then in the end they save each other and after reuniting with her family they live happily ever
