The theme of the book Wonder is the importance of people no matter what they look like, another theme is you shouldn’t gossip. This is proved throughout Auggie’s journey and the way his fifth grade classmates acted around him. As reported by the author Raquel J. Palacio, Auggie’s assumed to be friends talked between each other expecting that Auggie was know where around there.
“ what he really looks like is one of those shrunken heads Have you ever seen those? He looks exactly like that.”
“I think he looks like an orc.”
“Oh yeah!”
“If I looked like that,”
“I swear to God, I’d put a hood over my face every day.”
