It’s nearly 12 in the morning; I’m wearing Dragonball Z clothing and bracelets made from pony beads, called kandi, that cover both of my arms, just like everyone else around me. I hurry my way to the main stage as I eagerly wait to see one of my favorite djs from Australia. Lights are flashing, lasers are everywhere, the crowd patiently waits for DJ S3rl to take the stage and take the night away. Raves started in the 1980’s and currently still happen. People who have never been to a rave assume that raves are hotspots for drugs like MDMA, LSD, Ketamine, and magic mushrooms. Drugs can be present at raves, just as drugs can be present anywhere. Overdoses and hospital trips can happen to anyone if drugs are not taken with precaution. Drugs can be cut with other unknown drugs and clueless dealers can sell a drug under one name when it can be a completely different drug, increasing risks of overdoses, bad reactions, and even death. A way this can be addressed is for people to test the drugs before they consume or sell them to others. Testing is as simple as purchasing a testing kit or sending them to a DEA-licensed laboratory to test the drug for a full analysis. At several raves, a company called Dance Safe will provide pill testing services to anyone who asks. Dance Safe also provides information and encourages safe drug consumption. Users are going to take drugs whether they are legal or not, keeping those people safe and informed is better than leaving them to take unsafe drugs (“Drug …show more content…
