While out celebrating on Bourbon street one night in New Orleans, Ray Luizza, a prevalent New Orleans socialite, was robbed at gunpoint. Complying with the perpetrator made no difference; Ray was shot 5 times mercilessly outside his apartment. In an effort to catch the culprit, a group of siblings came forward and identified their assailant as John Thompson who later was announced as Ray Luizza’s killer. John Thompson, a young black man, was sentenced to death. What was the catch? He was innocent and falsely accused. More recently, after almost 25 years, Thompson was acquitted and much of his case was overturned. This case brought to light some of the injustice that has become quite prevalent in the United States Justice System. During the
