This week I am writing about Raymond Carver’s short story Cathedral. The main conflict of the story is the Narrator dealing his prejudices. His wife invites a blind man named Robert and he struggles with his ideas being wrong. Robert slowly cracks the Narrator’s shell by trying to get him to open up his mind. After a few drinks and some pie, they slowly start to connect to each other. After Robert shows him a different way of seeing, the Narrator himself starts to see outside of himself.
What I felt was a pretty important scene was “He said, “I do now, my dear. There’s a first time for everything. But I don’t feel anything yet.”’ The moment when Robert took the cannabis really shows his character. He was willing to extend an extra hand to
