A book’s title can say a lot about the story. It can tell what the book surrounds, expresses, or symbolizes. For example in the short story “Raymond’s Run,” the title represents how the main character finds clarity to Raymond’s potential. Book titles define the theme and can point out a pivotal moment in a book. To Kill A Mockingbird’s title is significant. It is symbolic and applies to two characters in the story.
To Kill A Mockingbird represents the act of killing someone who is innocent. The destruction of the innocence and nonviolent. Miss Maudie spoke of mockingbirds giving pleasure in one’s life thus causing it to be a sin to kill a mockingbird. Atticus says killing a mockingbird is a sin, and in a sense it is. You are killing someone with only good intentions. Killing a mockingbird (a innocent person) is snatching their innocence.

Good people must go through ordeals by fire to triumph through the evil sent by the corrupt. The story tells a lesson that teaches man will use his own justice and not the Lord’s. Man can never be purely good or bad. This does not justify Bob Ewell’s actions, but shows the corruption behind them. Man is corrupt as was seen in Sheriff Tate who was willing to bend the law. The events of the book were all about perspective of who is right and wrong. Though this isn’t an excuse for the corruption and discrimination shown in the book. Intolerance of who people are is wrong, and that is what Harper Lee was trying to convey. Man can be quick to show their kind of justice overlook the true justice. This can bend and manipulate the world if people hand out their kind of justice. Those two things so many times are the difference between corruption and justice. To Kill Mockingbird is a story of the killing of innocence and being intolerant towards discrimination of anyone. It is a classic story whose lessons will be valuable for future
