Dear Student,

The folder containing this document is your personal file storage area on the Stark State College Academic Computing network. You may store up a maximum of 500MB of files in this location. Your electronic files are stored on a server that incorporates redundant disk technology, state of the art antivirus software and nightly backups to provide the highest levels of availability and protection.

We would like for you to be aware of our file retention policy. Once a year, all of the files that students have stored are purged from the College servers. Once the files are deleted they cannot be restored. This annual “housekeeping” takes place about mid-August, after the summer session has concluded, and right before the fall semester begins. If you wish to keep your files beyond that time please make sure that you take a copy home with you. Many students find that USB flash drives are very handy for this purpose. Most of the computers on our campus that are available for student use also have CD and CD-RW writers that you can use to back up your files. If you need a USB flash drive or CD media these items are available in the bookstore.

Are you using your student email account? Stark State College has teamed up with Google to provide a much improved (and faster!) web-based email interface for you.
