Raymond Carver’s “Cathedral” gives insight on communication and a sense of reality. “Cathedral” is about two men; one blind and the other able to see. The man who is able to see, Robert, has a wife and is the one that knows the blind man. One day the wife invites the blind man over to their house. Robert is very hesitant and has a certain opinion of blind people in general. Towards the end Robert and the blind man are watching to this program about cathedrals. The blind man asks Robert to give an explanation of a cathedral but he fails to do so, his words stumbled him.
