This scholarship award would just be the first link in the chain to help benefit the chain of success in attaining my education. Receiving this award would help me tremendously by making my biggest dream come true. That dream is receiving a scholarship that will help defray the cost of my post-secondary education. I have never let anything get in the way of making my dreams come true. Witnessing my mom, a single mother, work very hard to give me the best life possible has given me the motivation to want to work hard and give back to her. I would be indebted to receive this scholarship which will help me focus on completing my college education. Little did I know; my fresh start of a new chapter would lead to a traumatic event that changed my world forever. My grandmother, my best friend, and my cheerleader was very sick and passed away my third month into high school. I was devastated because my grandmother was the person who had been with me throughout my entire life. She did any and everything I needed, and for that, I am forever grateful.
