Recycling? Have you ever asked yourself how effective recycling is in our County? If you ask me, recycling is not as effective as it should be. Many people in Valencia County aren't familiar with recycling or “go green” as other people may say. They have no knowledge on how it works or how it can benefit our environment. Other people find recycling time consuming. They would rather continue with their busy lives and continue harming the environment they live in. Valencia County should advertise recycling, and make recycling bins mandatory in each household.
When it comes to recycling a lot of people don't think of the ways they are causing harm to the environment. One way harm is being caused to the environment is natural habitats. Meaning a lot of the trees are being cut down for usage of materials. These materials may include paper, wine corks, rubber, and sponges. Another harm is garbage is filling up the landfills. Throwing everything away and anywhere will cause landfills to fill up. Leading toxins to the environment. Valencia County being part of New Mexico is included in the state's recycling percentage. Sadly to say New Mexico has a low recycling percentage, which is 16.2%. As a community recycling should become more effective.
