Has a death ever happened in your neighborhood or area that was maybe just a whole a big accident? And if so, was it partially your fault? Well in “Red Kayak” Brady was involved in a tragic death of Ben DiAngleo’s. In “Red Kayak” a little boy named Ben dies because his dad bought Brady’s friend, Digger’s grandfather’s land and tears it down. This made Digger mad and Digger did something about it. He took Brady’s drill to put holes in the DiAngelo’s kayak and water resistant glue to hold back the water for a little bit, but it didn’t just hurt Ben when he went out on the water with his mom. In “Red Kayak”, Digger tries to force J.T. and Brady to smoke with him. For example, it says,”come on, what are you afraid of? Digger had goaded me, shoving the cigarette in my face.” The evidence supports the topic because maybe somebody’s friend tried to make them smoke. That is another reason that “Red Kayak” is a good example of realistic fiction. The last reason that “Red Kayak” is a good example of realistic fiction is its true-to-life themes. In “Red Kayak” one true-to-life theme is to tell the truth & always do the right thing. For example in the book Digger says “And if you know what’s good for you, you’ll give it to me” My evidence shows that Digger wanted Brady to do the wrong thing but Brady ended ended up telling the truth and doing the right thing.
