Like most endangered animals loss of habitat is due to either cutting trees or cutting down red pandas favorite food, bamboo. Even when forests are only partially cut down, deforestation can still lead to massive population loss for red pandas. The loss of habitat also disrupts the way red pandas mate because they are kept apart leading to less diversity. “Climate change is just one of the many threats facing red pandas today. It may seem unthinkable that people would hunt these red pandas, but sadly poaching is very common in many places. “Humans keep killing Red Pandas for their fur, coats and skin. In China, a Red Panda's tail is considered good luck and is often used in weddings. Hunting Red Pandas will affect the population greatly as many of them will be killed by the process of the ecosystem.” (Anna Kong “Threats towards Red Pandas”).
