1. Staphylococcus aureus/ MRSA A case is presented on Sarah, 5 year old female, of Asian descent. Sarah was at her pee wee soccer game, on a hot sunny day, when she collided with one of the other players while trying to kick a goal. Sarah fell to the ground and scraped her chin. Her skin was broken and she had developed a small wound with little to no blood. As she played in her game she had a few other skin to skin interactions with the other kids. After the game, her mother assumed that because there was only a small wound on her daughter's chin, she figured that giving the wound air without any neosporin was the best way to allow the wound heal. A week or so later, Sarah began to develop medium sized red sores around her mouth that formed a yellowish- brown crust around the affected area. The patient was admitted to the E.R and was placed on an antibiotic immediately to clear the very distinctive sores. The patient had no previous record of any sores or ailments and had been vaccinated for the flu.
