I enrolled in this course to expand my knowledge on expressive writing. During my eight-week enrollment I feel as if I have improved on my rhetorical and organizational skills for writing. Instead of writing down blunt descriptions on my work, I now know I should think of more conclusive thoughts. I have become more direct when it comes to connecting to an audience. I have learned that there is no such thing as an open-minded audience, only an audience that can be persuaded. Using ethos, pathos, and logos are they key to creating a great and well effective argument. My professor was well knowledge about his field of work. He knew what he was talking about and was not shooting from the hip. As the student I was able to hear his message clear and thoroughly. Being in this class fulfilled a need to be a better writer and communicator. Writing has always been something I felt was my best subject. I love to read and I love to learn. I was always confident but throughout this course I have noticed more faults then others. I now know the meaning of patience, especially with my work. It is best to proofread then to skip ahead. If that were the case then I’d end up making terrible spelling errors that would have meant something to me, but to someone else comes out entirely differently. It is embarrassing nonetheless to have read over some of my work and to find grave spelling mistakes. It is better to spend extra time combing over something written then to stumble on it while trying to read it out loud or pronounce it quietly to oneself, to no avail. My organizational skills have also improved. My thoughts are now able to be more complex because I have learned how to keep a logical argument in an organized manner in a more dynamic way. I can now pick out errors instead of feeling that my paper is as best as it is going to be. Along with being more organized, I can now properly format a paper instead of my working bouncing around the page. It has been my first time in a long time doing something as detailed and demanding as this but it was all worth the effort. As I said I enjoy learning and I have learned that I prefer to write anything in an MLA format verses an APA formatted paper. Knowing that the body of my work is properly cohesive and connected, I can then focus towards the inside of my work. Every paper needs a great summary that makes perfect sense or else the reader will never know what to look forward too. Processing a well-collected thesis statement has always been a challenge to me
