Statement Of Purpose

When I was a little girl my family always told me I would grow up and do something great. I am eighteen years old and I attend Peninsula High School. My goal in life is to further my education and eventually reach my dream job of becoming a Midwife.

I knew I wanted to join the medical field about two years ago. My grandmother Judy became really sick and suffered a few strokes. She wanted to die at home and that's when Hospice stepped in. That's when I began to gain interest in nursing. The nurses allowed me to assist them in giving catheter care, changing her diaper and bedding and giving her bed baths. Then my grandmother made an unexpected recovery!

It was only a few hours here and there but I tried my best to help out. Volunteering at the food bank helped fuel my passion for helping and taking care of people. Unfortunately, my junior year, I had to stop volunteering because I wasn't doing well in school at the time. I just needed to focus on my academics.

Currently I'm doing well in my academics. In my Professional Medical Career class we are learning how to work one on one with patients. We go to actual medical settings, and work under the Registered Nurses (RN) in clinics. Then in July we can take our state exam to be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

This school year I took the initiative to change my life. After my Junior year I left my family at age seventeen, and moved in with another family. It was the stable home that I never really had. I furthered my stability by obtaining a job at my local grocery store,The Key Center Food Market. Financial stability is another reason I want to further my education. I want to make enough money to take care of myself and the future family, that I hope to have one day.

After High School I intend to attend Olympic College. I want to join the Nursing course to become a Registered Nurse. Then I plan to transfer to The University of Washington: School Of Nursing to reach my goal of becoming a
