The latter part of the prime years of Rekha’s life was characterized, but not only love for the growing children they was raising, but also turmoil from her first born being sick a lot. Additional stress stemmed from having a infant and a sick toddler in their home and this added stress only expedited the deterioration of Rekha and Uday’s romantic relationship. They began arguing over who was doing the most for the children. Uday was a business owner but managed his own store so he spent most of his mornings at work while Rekha was a stay at home mom going to all the doctor appointments for the children. As stated before, this helped Rekha come to terms with her past experiences and adversities (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015, p. 441). With doctors being unable to break his fever and lower his body temperature it left Jiger mental retarded. The high fever had damaged his brain, the doctors told Rekha and Uday if he survived Jiger will be in a vegetable state. Despite what the doctors said Rekha and Uday had bigger plans for their son. Once they were released with Jiger, Uday made a executive decision to move his family to the United States to get better care for his son. In India retardation is not accepted. Families who have handicapped members are often targeted for humiliation, laughter and sometimes the disable are left
