The many fights between Creon and Antigone, caused by his refusal to understand her opinion, forces Creon to choose whether he wants to keep his family together or abide by the law and take responsibility as a leader. For example, when Creon has Antigone taken away he is too prideful to take Antigone back because “The mob knows already. They’re all around the palace yelling. I can’t turn back”(p.50). Creon uses excuses to try and get out of what he knows was the wrong thing to do for his family. When the mob gets involved Creon’s image is at stake, and due to this he cannot go back on his own law.
