Topic one discussed how Kafka incorporated his relationship with his father into Mr. Samsa’s and Gregor’s relationship. When Kafka told his father that he wanted to be a writer, not a shop owner, his father was very upset. His father felt as though Franz would not be able to provide for the family with that chosen career path.
