The relationship parents have with their children can have an immense influence on their children's future and the person they are shaped into, whether the impact be intentional or unintentional. Mitch Albom explores the various significance of relationships in The Five People You Meet In Heaven. Within the novel, the protagonist, Eddie, ventures into heaven and is greeted by five diverse people whom all have significance to him. Each of these five people have a valuable lesson to teach Eddie, a lesson one that he failed to understand here on Earth. Eddie has a physically and emotionally abusive relationship with his father.
