Relationships start and end quickly and for more different reasons to count. In the book there are more relationships than just John and Abby there is John and Liz as well. Relationships can go from love to hate and back to love all with experience. In the book John and Abby’s relationship goes from love to hate for John and hardcore love and a little hate for Abby.
Near the beginning of the play Abby wants John to stay with her and ditch his wife, John tells her off. In “The Crucible” we get the idea that Liz and John have been married for a long time, so obviously they have been though a lot of hard times together. This explains why Liz doesn’t just freak out and leave John for cheating on her.
