The excerpt, “Religion And America: They Do Go Together” by R. Limbaugh, is a chapter about the authors belief that religion should be practiced in America. Limbaugh begins his argument with the justification that religion should be incorporated in places like the school system because the great leaders before us included God in their practices. He states that it is somewhat unfair to the children learning about the foundations of America, without including the religious aspect of it. Limbaugh believes that religious practices being banned from schools is the reason education had taken a step backwards. He believes the system is too strict, and many people have been fired from projecting their religious affiliations publically. First of all his article is extremely bias, and he does not seem to think through everything sensibly. For example, the fact that he simple didn’t care about how other faiths feel about prayer was obviously not the right way to handle things. On top of that his suggestion of the government to hand out vouchers was just not plausible. I think if people have a problem with the no religion policy at school then just home-school your child. Otherwise, I believe the fact that no specific faith is favored actually makes for a better community at school. It favors diversity and is welcoming to all. Just because the founding fathers mentioned God in politics during their time, doesn’t mean we have to do the same. Everyone should be free to practice their faith, but imposing it during school time is just too complicated. Everyone has their own form of prayer, and calling it nondenominational doesn’t mean it accommodates to every religion. I think the author exaggerated this topic, and everyone should be able to participate in school feeling comfortable and
