Religion is negatively correlated with at-risk behaviors because of the foundation that religion is extended on. As was mentioned in the article “Clear moral codes and behavioral prescriptions” are established in religion, which in the end help children “face experiences beyond their developmental acumen” (Wagener, 2003). When they are taught this early in life they are able to develop a strong connection with these beliefs. The very fact that faith factors have established doctrines allows for order, and harmony to be reached. The clear morals are then enforced by a different form of authority one that is not as comfortable as parents yet not as distant as cashiers at local grocery stores.
