As an associate professor of Religion at Concordia University in Montreal, Richard Foltz specializes in the history of Iran along with religions such as Islam and Zoroastrianism. He is the author or editor of eight books and around seventy articles. In his book, Religions of the Silk Road, Foltz takes readers along the path that many travelers would have taken centuries ago. He outlines reasons the trip was dangerous, but also why it was worth it. He mentions that while trade was what the road became known for, it also helped spread ideas, culture and religion throughout new lands.
