I know, “not another movie about football.” However, unlike other recent sports related movies centered on football such as the kids’ comedies Little Giants or Air Bud, or cheering for “Rudy” the underdog player who would not give up, Remember the Titans could almost be categorized as an educational movie that just happened to take place with a football team. The football teams are not the only things hard hitting. The underlying plot and themes while subtle to most are just as hard-hitting when considering the issues outside of the context of high school football. Both Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer have won many awards, Disney for its animated films and movies geared towards youth and Bruckheimer is known for his comedies such as Beverly Hills Cop and Bad Boys and his action/dramas movies such as Top Gun, Days of Thunder, The Rock, and Con Air. Remember the Titans is a film about more than just high school football; it is more than just about racial tension and desegregation, it is more than just doing things right, it is about doing the right things. …show more content…
This caused tension between coaches and parents, black students and white students, and coaches and other coaches. The film shows the challenges each faced during this time. In the end, almost all of them overcame the racial tension all because they were forced to work together as a team and see each other as equal human beings and not just a person of a different color. The game of football not only helped the school get past the challenging times of desegregation, it also helped the community embrace one
