Nursing is the art that refers to the dynamic set of skills, methodology, and technique in helping the patient to their optimal wellbeing and play important role in the prevention and detection of patient health problems. At the beginning the nursing staff in hospitals was composed of the sisters in the nunnery who were helping those who needed medical assistance. They were understaffed and working in poor sanitation trying to serve the community. Throughout the Renaissance period, politic and economic situations affected nursing. The Catholic Church, in the turmoil with the protestant reformation, could no longer provide those services.
