Dance at Bougival” captured my attention while visiting the Museum of Fine Arts. Renoir truly conveys what a masterpiece tries to capture, beauty and grace. This painting inspired me to want a relationship like the dancing couple has in this work of art. Renoir’s subtle details of light and shadow come together to create a warm, sensual painting. The young woman in the painting has a plain jane, cute, pin-up appearance, the faceless man appears to be a bit rugged and dominant. He wears blue to her white trimmed in red bonnet, and points his beard into her doll like face. I wondered if the two trees above their head have any significance to the painting.
