IT Governance can be defined as the preparation for, making of and implementation of decisions regarding goals, processes, people and technology on a tactical and strategic level of the IT organization. The goal of IT governance is to establish chains of responsibility, authority, and communication to empower people in support of the overall enterprise goals and strategy. Good IT governance is the key for a successful enterprise strategy.IT has to be managed as a strategic asset, risks has to considered and the performance has to be measured constantly. Decision making skills needs to extremely precise. Starting from CIO to every individual IT employee there has to be a strong communication and established transparency.
IT governance describes the mechanism that enable business and IT executives to integrate business and IT decisions.IT governance covers control of the work, co-ordination between different pieces of work, and measurement of outcome and justification of spending.

As an IT manager I am responsible for making IT decisions, designing an enterprise IT architecture and as well as schedule a time table. Programming and testing the implementations are my main responsibilities. The software development life cycle has been very helpful to manage the all the implementation related components and distribute responsibilities to my employees. Spiral software development methodologies are being used in our organization which offers a high amount of risk management and avoid the problems which could be costly.
