Collaborative learning is a huge concept when coming together in a group. Collaborative learning is a method when a group of people put their ideas together in order to create a project or to answer a significant question. For example: Owners from different organizations working together at a convention on a shared project. Advocates of collaborative learning believe, when small groups share their ideas, it stimulates critical thinking and makes the project their working on more interesting. According to Johnson and Johnson (2002), there is persuasive evidence that cooperative teams achieve at higher levels of thought and retain information longer than students who work quietly as individuals. When working together in a team, individuals need to be able to solve problems, make wise decisions and think creatively. Nevertheless, the improvement and development of critical-thinking skills through collaborative learning is a huge goal of technology education.
The benefits of working in a group as you research for information can be extended in lengths to find sources. The internet, printed resources, interviews and even casual conversation builds up an extensive amount of information. Each group member may have some good resource strategies. The good is to transform source material into your own idea.
