Although a raise is a privilege to employees currently working, if standards and parameters are set for associates to achieve and surpass; a raise should be granted when necessary. When an individual simply does their job and does not show a desire to take on any additional tasks or responsibilities in order to grow themselves or their team, are they just as deserving of a raise as someone initiating challenges and new perspectives? During the time frame of this fiscal year, I have taken on a new list of responsibilities and initiatives in my role as a trainer that warrant an increase in pay. Beginning with my acceptance to cover a management role, training new in position managers that are successful in their new management positions and rolling out several new initiatives to our team are only three of the responsibilities that I have taken on and proved to have success with. Over a time span of the last seven months, I was asked to cover my immediate manager’s position which was a challenge I willingly accepted. I transitioned from only overseeing two associates directly reporting to me and having a partnership with twenty-

two store locations to broadening my territory to an entire region. In this role, I have successfully managed an additional twenty-six associates, five of whom are my peers and took on communicating to over 120 store locations from Central Florida to the Florida Keys. Although this new level of managing may seem overwhelming, I have grown stronger and built more working relationships that I ever dreamed would be possible. I also take personal pride in knowing that others who had only “heard” of me previously now call upon me regularly for assistance and advice. Taking into account the level of knowledge and expertise of these managers, that was a personal stepping stone for my position. In addition, I was asked to oversee the on boarding and training of thirty-three external managers joining our company from other stated or even our competitors. Nothing is more rewarding as a trainer than having a large number of highly skilled individuals knowing and understanding their previous company functions, coming to you unsure of their new environment and turning into successful business managers placed into a new store location. Their sales are financially sound, their associates are satisfied with their leaders and their passion to succeed is never ending. The third responsibility that I feel that I have been successful at this year was a complicated task but one that I handled well. Delivering six new training initiatives to 147 stores in a six month time frame was unheard of in our business and one that many felt was nearly impossible. Through delegation and teamwork our team was highly praised by even the executive team in our company headquarters because of the programs ease into our everyday business operations. There were several times when I would have to visit stores that had managers unwilling to change with the evolving programs, it was my job to convince these individuals that the processes and procedures and even the reasoning behind these programs were to benefit our total company. This task alone grew my respect for each individual and their personal opinions and also guided my passion for my position and the company’s insight into a brighter future. Working this closely with my peers, our training team has grown stronger as a whole. Even previously as a counterpart I was not able to
