When someone think of environmental problems, the thought of pollution or other environmental problems come to mind. But poaching of a wild animal is one too. Animal poaching is probably the worst thing anyone can imagine for an animal species. Animal poaching is a very unnecessary and cruel way to make “easy money”. Nobody shouldn’t tolerate the aimless slaughter of these majestic beautiful creatures. Many animals are affected by poaching and face extinction and both you and our governments need to do something now. There needs to be a stop this now, before it’s too late. Poaching is still an ongoing serious problem, especially in Africa and Asia. This crime can be committed for commercial, subsistence or trophy profits. Commercial profit, is when hunters kill animals illegally and sell their body parts. They don’t kill for survival, they kill for greed. Commercial poachers are encouraged by the demand for supplies. Soon there will be no elephants, lion, rhino, leopard or buffalos. Elephants have no natural predators, except humans. Poachers have forced the largest land mammal on earth to be vulnerable and soon there will be none left because of how cruel poachers actions have been. Their large distinct tusks on either side of the elephant’s face make them an obvious and trophy target to poachers. Their tusks once used to forage for food and water have long been desired by people. Poachers hack the tusks off elephants leaving them dead or for dead. They are killed for their ivory (tusks) which is then sold to make anything from jewelry to objects of cultural or religious significance. In the current rates of poaching, elephant populations will not last another 10 years in the wild. Elephants have low reproductive rates, so their pregnancies last longer than most other
