The commons fill with kids half asleep as they wait for the 7:17 bell. Buses pull into the parking lot with kids dreading the walk inside. The moment they walk off the bus they look up to see that they aren’t the only ones tired. The cold hits them giving them a little energy, to get inside the warm school and get tired all over again.
The bell rings and all the middle schooler’s get up from their position, the kids actually awake moving to the front. They file out of the commons for the school to swallow them up like a shark eating a fish.
