Although synesthesia only affects just over 100,000 people it is a condition in which stimulation of one sensory is crossed with another and causes unusual experiences in a second sense neurological, phantom limbs, and environmental influences to shape a person's synesthesia.
Synesthesia is a condition, in which people's senses intermingle. Some synaesthetes experience colours when they hear, read or even think of letters and numbers. For others, words can trigger a real sensation of taste on their tongue.There are numerous types of synaesthesia, and they can involve all senses - vision, hearing, touch, taste and smell. The most common form is colour-letter synaesthesia.

Long termed as a product of overactive imaginations or a sign of mental illness, synesthesia has come to be accepted by scientists in recent years as an actual with a real neurological basis. Some researchers now believe it may yield valuable clues to how the brain is organized and how perception works.Contributing to crossed sensory researchers have debated that human mechanics that can rise synesthesia since the early days. …show more content…
“Although there is a vast clinical literature on phantom limbs, there have been no experimental studies on the effects of visual input on phantom sensations.” Synesthesia does not add to the sensory perception it on increases which is why people affected by it can taste numbers , and smell colors. “Neural mechanisms potentially involved in synaesthesia for pain include “mirror systems”: neural systems active both when observing an action, or experiencing an emotion or sensation and when executing the same action, or personally experiencing the same emotion or sensation.”( (Fitzgibbon et al., 2009):) Depending on the perspective can determine how the affected person can percept the things they see.
