There are many conflicts in the town of Salem. Many of the people in the town do not get along and this causes people to get in arguments. The conflicts between the people is what furthered along the witch hysteria. The conflict with Reverend Parris is what what brought Reverend Hale to Salem, which then caused more people to fight like the Putnams and the Nurses. The Putnams are one of the major conflicts in the town of Salem. Goody Putnam only argues with and dislikes Rebecca Nurse because she had so many children and Goody Putnam only had one surviving child. When Reverend Hale came to Salem and asked questions, Putnam confessed what she did. Rebecca was shocked by her confession and Goody Putnam yelled in an angry tone at Rebecca saying that she does not have the right to judge her. He thinks he is worth more wood than what the town gives him. Reverend Parris being selfish and always bringing up the amount of wood he deserves causes many of the people like the Putnams to not really care about what he has to say. Reverend Parris cares more about his reputation and how much he is worth than his own daughter who was in a coma like state. His sermons have been more about the devil and hell and that has been causing people like the Nurses not to go to his sermons. There are many conflicts between the town’s people that brought the witch trials to Salem. Reverend Parris, the Nurses, and the Putnams are all the reasons why the witch hysteria got out of control. Reverend Parris cared too much about his reputation and the Putnams cared about power and about blaming other people like the Nurses for not being able to have children.
