“Trying To Be Manly With Their Friends”

“Scout Honor” by Avi is a realistic fiction story that could happen, it’s about 3 boys who are trying to become better in Boy Scouts.The way they were told how they can move up a level is to go camping during the night. In the beginning, the 9-year-old boys decide to leave lovely New York and go to frightening New Jersey without any adults to accompany them. Plus they only had to go to New Jersey to camp there. Once the go camping together they all will go up a rank in Boy Scouts. Not that long after they learn that they were so wrong, and that they were unprepared for the road ahead. Doing this wouldn't just make them higher in Boy Scouts, it would also make them more manly. The boys in “Scouts Honor” struggle with becoming manly. Horse struggles with being tough. When the boys are finally in New Jersey, Horse is basically saying that he's not as tough as they think, but in his own words. When they were still in New York, at the subway, they were figuring out which train to get on. Finally they figured out which train they had to get on. So when the train comes and they all get on, Horse sees his bed just lying out in the open. So Horse and the main character get off to get the bed, but right when they grab it the door starts to close. The main character yells to Max to just get off at the next exit. While Max is waiting at the next exit they realize he ate all of his saltine crackers and soda. the main character realizes streaks on his cheeks, and asks him if he had been crying.
