The revolutionary war was indeed revolutionary as colonists not only gained independence from Great Britain but also gained representation across people of different gender, culture, and economic classes. In document 7, Abigail, John Adams’ wife, wrote to him asking for women’s representation in the new code of laws. Document 8 is a second example of independence and representation for women, in which, it denied limitations on voting rights based on gender. Document 9 defends the rights of Indian culture showing colonists’ respect for Indians’ culture and independence as one people. Finally, in document 4, representation shifted towards moderate economic classes because they were affected by the political decisions and wanted more representation.
